Ethiopia | Rumudamo
Washed Ethiopian Landrace
This coffee is sourced from the Rumudamo washing station in the village of Arbegona, located in Sidama. At an elevation of 2,200 MASL, around 600 local smallholder farmers contribute their cherries to create this lot. The primary variety delivered is Heirloom 74112. Expect a clean and complex cup, characteristic of the finest coffees from Sidama. You’ll find notes of purple flowers like lavender, ripe stone fruits such as white peach and nectarine, along with fresh honey and jasmine florals.
Rumudamo is managed by Asefa Dukamo Korma of Daye Bensa, who are also the exporters for this and many of our other lots from Sidama. This site gained global recognition after placing 2nd and 3rd in the inaugural Ethiopian Cup of Excellence in 2020. Coffee here is grown at some of the highest elevations in the world, producing some of our favorite flavor profiles.
Cherries are collected at peak ripeness. Once sorted they are depulped and the seeds are submerged in water and fermented for 48-72 hours. Following this stage the seeds are rinsed thoroughly and moved to drying tables where they are dried on raised beds for 8-12 days.
