Washed Gesha
Gelver Cuenca manages Finca La Soledad, located at 1900 MASL in La Plata, Huila. This is a separation of Gesha harvested in September 2024. This is a really clean coffee with citrus and stone fruit flavors along with classic Gesha florals. Up front we find peach and bergamot along with lemon and other citrus in the aroma. The cup leads to more gesha florals like vanilla and chamomile with a really nice - pointed acidity.
Gelver is a 37 year old father of two, his farm is 4 hectares where he grows Caturra, Colombia, Pink Bourbon and Gesha. This is our first time tasting his coffee and we are happy to showcase it.
Cherries are hand picked at peak ripeness and floated to remove defects before being depulped. The seeds are then dry fermented and rinsed to remove most of the mucilage, with a small amount of mucilage intentionally left intact. The seeds are then moved to dry inside a parabolic greenhouse.
