Decaf Colombia | Amigos de Huila
This decaffeinated lot is a collaboration of 14 coffee producers, all from the Huila region of Colombia. Harvested in November 2024, the farms are situated at altitudes between 1600 and 1900 MASL. It’s a sweetness-forward decaf, with tasting notes of brown sugar, wafer cookie, and subtle hints of orange and stone fruit.
EA Decaf coffees from Colombia are always a favorite of ours, offering a cup with exceptional sweetness and a smooth, round body. While they may not always be the most attention-grabbing coffees, this lot demonstrates how excellent decaf can be when it is grown, processed, and prepared with care.
The process begins with ripe cherry selection, followed by a cherry fermentation for 15-24 hours before being depulped. The seeds are then fermented for 24-48 hours, followed by rinsing, drying, and decaffeination using ethyl acetate.
